Biography

About Rui

Rui is an Associate Director with more than seven years’ experience in corporate restructuring and insolvency across Australia and New Zealand. Prior to specialising in restructuring, she worked in commercial finance roles across the retail, logistics and hospitality sectors, giving her practical industry insight and a commercial perspective on financial distress.

Rui leads the delivery of formal and informal restructuring engagements, spanning voluntary administrations, deeds of company arrangement, liquidations, Safe Harbour and turnaround advisory. She works closely with directors, management and key stakeholders to develop and implement practical strategies through periods of financial and operational challenge.

Fluent in English and Mandarin, Rui has strong connections within Australia’s Chinese-speaking business community and actively shares her restructuring and insolvency knowledge with business owners and professionals, helping make Australia’s restructuring and insolvency regimes more accessible.

Significant Engagements

Ezibuy Group – Voluntary Administration & Liquidation: Led the administration of seven New Zealand entities within the Ezibuy retail group, with approximately $100 million in turnover and more than 200 employees. Managed the trade-on, store closures, workforce restructuring, inventory realisation and business sale process, together with key stakeholder negotiations.

Premium Asset Services – Voluntary Administration, DOCA & Liquidation: Led the restructuring of a fire protection contractor operating across 11 active construction projects with approximately $20 million in contract value. Developed and implemented recovery strategies using Security of Payment legislation and managed negotiations with builders, secured creditors, government agencies and other key stakeholders.

Café Culture Australia – Voluntary Administration & DOCA: Led the administration of a long-established furniture business operating across NSW and Victoria. Stabilised the business during the administration, managed the completion of customer orders and negotiated a going-concern sale of the business and inventory, preserving employment and delivering an improved outcome for creditors.

Confidential Global Industrial Group – Strategic Restructuring Advisory: Advised a large privately owned industrial group with operations across Australia, the UK and Europe. Supported restructuring and refinancing analysis across a $3 billion+ capital structure, together with scenario modelling, contingency planning and stakeholder engagement across multiple jurisdictions.
